FROM DOWNTOWN SMITHERS, BCLeaving Smithers towards Prince George, you cross the Bulkley Bridge and take the first road left which is Old Babine Lake Road. After about 4.5 km you cross another little bridge and take the 2nd road to you left which is McCabe Road. On McCabe Road you travel for about 1.5 km and take the second driveway on your right. A large sign by the gate tells you you found the Logpile Lodge. AIRThere are 3 scheduled flights between Vancouver International Airport and Smithers Airport (Air Canada, www.aircanada.com Hawk Air, www.hawkair.com). If you are planning to book an international flight into Vancouver, a connecting flight up to Smithers shouldn't cost you more than $200 CDN (return). FERRYYou can catch a ferry from Port Hardy, Vancouver Island to Prince Rupert = Inside Passage (www.bcferries.bc.ca) and spend 14 hrs on the ocean, or else coming down from Alaska on the ferry (Juneau or Skagway) to Prince Rupert (www.alaska-ferries.com, Alaska Marine Highway tel. 907 - 465 3946) - maybe youll be lucky and see some whales travelling to their breeding grounds. TRAINThe very scenic train ride from Prince Rupert (www.viarail.ca) to Smithers takes about 7 hrs and leads you along the fabulous Skeena and Bulkley River. The train leaves Prince Rupert every Wednesday, Friday or Sunday morning. Coming from Prince George the train leaves at 7.45 in the morning every Monday, Thursday or Saturday. CARIf
you can take your time to drive up from Vancouver you will find many
interesting stops along the way, and you will observe how the landscape
changes slowly to become that overwhelming mountain country. Straight
driving time ~ 15 hrs. Speed limit on the highway is 100km/hr, unless
